Our final Prayer @ Parliament gathering for 2013 was a great success. The attendance was good, the singing was excellent. This time we were led by The Filipino community Choir. They also sang “The Payer” as a special feature, a song made famous by Andrea Borcelli and Celine Dion. It was powerful and inspiring. the singing filled the whole chamber. This was a real highlight of the evening.
Her excellency Virginia Benevidez the Philippines Ambassador led us in the opening prayer setting the scene for the whole evening. Asenati Lole-Taylor MP and Su’a William Sio MP did the Bible Reading. This time both readings were from the New Testatment (1 Tim 2:1-8 and Eph 2:11-22).
Peseta Sam Lotu Iiga MP deputising for Hon. Chester Borrows MP welcomed the people.
Prayer Track 1: Local Government Election:
David Major a former Wellington City Councellor’s input was both practical and concise. Prayer Pointers were: 1. Christian Candidates who are standing for Councils and District Health Boards. 2. Christians to be informed about the issues and voting wisely. 3. Communities that are facing particular challenges and 4. the challenge facing District health Boards.
Prayer Track 2: NZ MultiCultural Nation
Input was from Ps Rasik Ranchord. The Bible gives us a glimpse of the multicultural vision in Rev 7:9 which talks of redeemed as a great multitude that no one can count from every nation, tribe, people and nation.
Christians should be at the forefront in the issue of harmonious race relation because of our faith. The Bible informs us that every human being is created in the image of God (Gen 1:26,27). Also the Gospel effects a double reconciliation. Vertical reconciliation between God and Man (1Tim 2:3-7) and horizontal between people (Eph 2:11-22).
